The castle Boskovice came into existence through the reconstruction of former Dominican convent which was abolished by Josef II. and the object came into hands of Ditrichsteins who belonged to the Mikulov stem of imperial princes. After that a manufacture for color production was founded here but the owners needed to solve their housing question because from the end of the 17th century they lived in then only 400m distant medieval castle of Boskovice (only ruins have been saved) which was inconvenient, that's why in 1812 the reconstruction, which was finished in 1826, started including the English park. The castle became an "Empire jewel of Moravia" in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century and kept its stylistic purity until today, as the one of the few in Moravia.
In 1856 the castle came into hands of countship ancestry of Mensdorff-Pouilly who owned it until 1950 and who got it back in 1991. Today the castle encourages attention both for unique Empire equipment of castle interiors and contemporarly arranged garden. All above mentioned makes it extraordinary and the largest Empire complex in Moravia. We offer you exquisite rooms for arranging seminars, receptions, banquets, presentations, private concerts and weddings. We provide you for your event accomodation, high-quality catering company and voluntary programs as a classical music production, cimbalom music, fencing performance etd. We look forward to your visit from May until September 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.. Closed on Mondays.

Accommodation at Balcarka offers reconditioning stays and unusual experiences. Total capacity is 25 beds.

The accommodation is searched by everyone who needs rest and also cyclo routes (holidays for bikers Blansko and its surrounding). Due to its mild climate you can enjoy the beauty of this part of South Moravia also in spring, when the local nature wakes up, and in autumn, when the surrounded nature displays a scale of fantastic colours and the woods are full of mushrooms.
